“Who is doing this? Who am I? What is all this? Who is the doer? Who is the nimit (instrumental doer) of this? If all these remain present ‘at a time’ exactly the way it is, then that is considered shuddha upayog (pure applied awareness as the Self).”

“Gnan (knowledge) of every living being of the entire world exists in a Soul. However, only the Gnan that is able to see the ego and everything as gneya (object to be known) is considered as ‘Gnan’. Yet, that is still ansh-gnan (partial knowledge), and is considered as upayog (applied awareness as the Self) from that moment on. Where there is Gnan, there is upayog, either partially or completely.”

“Complete shuddha upayog (pure applied awareness as the Self) is keval gnan (absolute Knowledge)”

“I am Chandubhai’ (name used by Dadashri to refer to the relative self) is good or bad upayog (applied awareness). ‘I am Pure Soul’ is shuddha upayog (pure applied awareness as the Self). Instillation of life in the world occurs with good or bad upayog.”

“If a person wants to walk on the path of the Vitrag (Enlightened Ones), he should turn the upayog (applied awareness) from bad to good. And if the person wants to attain moksha (ultimate liberation), he should keep shudha upayog (pure applied awareness as the Self). The person who wants to attain moksha should not get into the intricacy of good or bad, and should keep them both as things to be ‘discharged’.”

“Shuddha Upayog (pure applied awareness as the Self) is the same as Parmatma Swaroop (embodiment of the absolute Self).”

“If one can exactly see the world ‘as it is’; if one can exactly see the ‘relative’ and the ‘real’, it is shukladhyan (Internal state that renders the constant awareness of ‘I am pure Soul’).”

“Shukladhyan (internal state that renders the constant awareness of ‘I am pure Soul’) means Dhyan (internal state of being) of the eternal form of the Self, the Soul. Dhyan is a natural thing. And in shuddha upayog (pure applied awareness as the Self), one must do spiritual effort with awakened awareness as the Self.”

“It is the light of love which connects us to others. We answer the call of love. It comes from God and touches our soul.”

“It is a great honour to be human. Humans have the capacity to freely choose their destiny and, one day, they will all choose the right destiny.”

“The Soul is neither a Jain nor a Vaishnav. The Soul is Vitarag (free from attachment and abhorrence). This is the religion of the Vitarag (the enlightened ones).”

“SONG OF THE STARI am nothing but oxygen and hydrogen,A luminous sphere of plasmaHeld together by helium and gravity,And like a balloon I float on earth,Waiting to be released back into the sky,Waiting to go back in the reverseDirection from which I came,Traveling through a warm tunnel of light,And out into a cold, dark abyssWhere I will explode into a thousand pieces.I shall leave behind my body,Just like air abandons the skin of a shattered balloon,And the magnetic dust that carries myHeart and spirit will lift us backTo congregate and shineWith the stars.Home again,In the fluorescentKingdom of the constellations,I will once again be called byMy soul’s true name. And my heart,It will flicker again,With every memory from its manyLifetimes,And with every wishMade by a child.SONG OF THE STAR by Suzy KassemCopyright 1993”

“By bowing down to a body, one will achieve sansar (wordly life); and by bowing down to Soul, one will attain moksha (ultimate liberation).”

“Those we love become our teachers whether we intend it or not.”

“The Knower is only one. The objects to be Known are infinite!”
